Postdoctoral Researcher in AI/Human-Robot Interaction
Brigham Young University

Jacob Crandall and Michael Goodrich at Brigham Young University are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work in their research groups on the topic of Proficiency Self-Assessment in Intelligent Systems. More specifically, the research is directed toward developing algorithms and tools that allow autonomous systems to reason about their own abilities to accomplish both new and existing tasks, and to use these capabilities to facilitate effective human-robot interactions. The position is funded through an ONR MURI, and will involve collaborations with research personnel from Carnegie Mellon University, Tufts University, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The successful applicant should have a PhD by the time of appointment, and a background in one or more of the following (or related) areas: Artificial Intelligence, Human-Robot Interaction, Robotics, and Machine Learning. Software development capabilities and the ability to work with PhD students also working on the project are also critical.

The anticipated start date is September 2018, with an initial appointment of 12 months (renewable).

To apply for the position or for further inquiries about the position, please contact Jacob Crandall at crandall at cs.byu.edu <mailto:crandall at cs.byu.edu>. Applicants should provide a CV and letter of interest.
