A funded Post-Doc position is available at the Networked Multiagent Systems research group led by Prof. Andrea Gasparri at the Department of Engineering at Rome Tre University in Rome, Italy to carry out research in the areas of control, robotics, and optimization.

Research experience is expected in one of the following areas: simultaneous localization and mapping, robot motion planning, multi-robot coordination and task allocation, cloud robotics, and field robotics with experimental validations. The knowledge of the Robot Operating Systems (ROS) will be considered as a plus.
Candidates should hold a PhD in relevant fields. In addition, candidates should have a track record of high impact international publications and demonstrate enthusiasm for performing both theoretical and experimental research activities. Furthermore, candidates should have strong programming skills in C++, C, and (possibly) Python. Responsibilities include: theoretical and experimental research activities, tutorship and mentoring of graduate and PhD students.
The position is full-time. The position is open to candidates of any nationality; in particular, no knowledge of the Italian language is required. The gross salary is ~27.500,00 €, which will result in ~1650 € net per month. Travel funding will be available.

*** Abstract -- H2020 Project “Pantheon - Precision Farming of Hazelnut Orchards”
The project PANTHEON introduces a Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the precision farming of orchards.
PANTHEON objective is to design an integrated system where a limited number of unmanned aerial and ground robots move within the orchard to collect data and perform typical farming operations. The data is stored in a central operative unit where the information is integrated in order to perform automatic feedback actions (e.g. to regulate the irrigation system) and to support the decisions of the agronomists.
The proposed SCADA will acquire information at the resolution of the single plant. This will allow to dramatically increase the detection of limiting factors for each individual plant, such as lack of water or pests and diseases affecting the plant health, and to react accordingly. This focused intervention will result in a better average state of health of the orchard. This architecture has the potential to increase the production of the orchard
while being more cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.
The proposed SCADA will be experimentally validated in a real-world (1:1 scale) hazelnut orchard located in the Tuscia area (province of Viterbo, Italy).
