Dear Colleague,

On the request from many authors, we decided to extend the submission
deadline of ROBIO 2018 to *July 31*, *2018 *(no further extension). You
are welcome to make a new submission or update the submitted
manuscript(s). Your strong support and contributions are greatly

The 2018 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO
2018) will be held Dec. 12-15, 2018, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The
conference venue is Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, next to the Twin Towers
and the Central Park. Please visit our official website
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.robio2018.org&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=ecdYcWr0kXogNeHTOqjJWRz9pkMfMwXnMQPecf3NtJI&s=XQxQ8S1dD78r_cpO0Al9mKxug7K0fTXaDPdirnrq-i4&e= for the detailed information.

As the 15th in the ROBIO conference series, IEEE ROBIO 2018 will be another
tremendous event for fruitful intellectual and social interactions among
colleagues and friends in robotics, biomimetics and related fields. The
theme of ROBIO 2018 is *Fusion of Robotics, Biomimetics and AI*, reflecting
ever-growing interests in robotics and biomimetics, and rapid development
in artificial intelligence. We solicit full-length, high-quality, and
original papers on but not limited in the following topics:

· New theory and technology in robotics and biomimetics

· Bio-inspired robots, e.g., climbing, creeping, and walking robots

· Soft robotics and liquid-metal robotics

· Artificial intelligence in robotics

· Autonomous mobile robots and manipulators

· Space robots, aerial robots, and underwater robots

· MEMS, NEMS, nano-technology, and micro/nano systems

· Human-robot interaction

· Smart sensors and actuators

· Robotic vision and image processing

· Multi-sensor data fusion and sensor networks

· Multi-robot systems, swarm robots, and collaborative robots

· Medical robotics, biomedical and rehabilitation engineering

· Robotics in intelligent manufacturing

· Applications of robotics and biomimetics

Submission should be six pages in length (or up to eight with extra page
charge) and must be in the PDF format, compliant with IEEE conference paper
requirements. All accepted papers will appear in IEEE Xplore, and will be
submitted to EI for indexing. Extension of selected papers will be
published in a special issue titled “Bio-inspired Robots” of the journal

The program will contain three or four plenary talks, six keynote
speeches, a series of tutorials/workshops, organized sessions, and regular
parallel sessions.

We will also have Best Paper Competition:

    1) Best Conference Paper Award

    2) Best TJ Tarn Paper Award in Robotics

    3) Best Paper Award in Biomimetics

    4) Best Student Paper Award

The winner of the Best Paper Award will receive a certificate and Dollar

Important Dates:

· July 15, 2018 July 31, 2018: Full papers submission deadline

· Oct. 1, 2018: Proposals for tutorials and workshops

· Oct. 15, 2018: Notification of paper and session acceptance

· Nov. 1, 2018: Submission of final papers

Besides promising to be a great platform for scientific and technical
communication, the conference will also bring opportunities for social
programs in Kuala Lumpur (KL). As the capital city of Malaysia, KL boasts
gleaming skyscrapers, colonial architecture, charming locals, delicious
foods of various types, wonderful fruits, and a myriad of natural
attractions. It is widely recognized for numerous landmarks, including
Petronas Twin Towers, KL Rotary Tower, Skybar, and Batu Caves, which is
over 400 million years old. The welcome reception will take place in
Skybar, and the farewell party will be held in the KL Rotary Tower.

We are striving to make IEEE ROBIO 2018 a high-quality conference, as
before. You are invited and expected to make contributions to this
conference via submitting high quality papers and attending the conference.
