Dear Robotics Community,
A full-time position is available for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with interests and experience in robotics, bioengineering, human sensorimotor control and learning, biomechanics, or a related field. The associate will work with Dr. Christopher J. Hasson in the Neuromotor Systems Laboratory in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Sciences at Northeastern University.
The associate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of a project studying the effects of a hybrid human-robotic system for gait rehabilitation. This involves recruitment of human subjects, data collection, management, processing, and analysis. It is also expected that the associate will make significant contributions towards the presentation of findings at meetings and conferences and the drafting, submission, and revision of peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Successful candidates must have a relevant PhD degree. Experience in programming and controlling robots is highly desirable. Proficiency with C++ programming, Linux computing, and teleoperation would be of particular interest. Skill in collecting real-time physiological data with non-invasive sensors (e.g. heart rate, electrodermal activity, etc.) would also be a plus.
The position also requires knowledge of data management, excellent communication and management skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to work independently, under supervision, supervising others, and as part of a team. The candidate must be able to handle multiple priorities in a complex environment, take initiative, meet deadlines, and assign projects and evaluate the work of others on the research team.
The position is currently funded for one year; additional years are contingent on funding availability.
