Dear Colleagues,

you are cordially invited to attend the workshop

*********** The intelligence of touch *************
                             on October 1st, full day
(a satellite event of IROS 2018, Madrid)
                   see https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__inttouch.wordpress.com&d=DwIF_w&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=HgGbOUPwmbHyCRRXBDouxqBXsTui-o5biLa2VW3HRrE&s=epd_7kdechjod5brjz94qQPLuiiPjicosGCpSCv6DbY&e=

We will be dealing with touch in robots and humans, in all their aspects. How do they process and interpret tactile information? How do they react and actively explore based on touch and gather out of the experience of touching and being touched? How can we be inspired to build new robots and sensors and intelligence, in order to exploit touch?

We have a rich program and ten outstanding invited speakers: Aude BILLARD, Gordon CHENG, Strahinja DOŠEN, Herta FLOR, Oussama KHATIB, Risto KÕIVA, Francesco NORI, Allison OKAMURA, Domenico PRATTICHIZZO and Giulio ROGNINI. Please visit the website for more information!

Moreover, we will be displaying

*********** up to 10 DEMONSTRATORS related to touch:
*********** sensors, robots, hands-on human/robotic experiments

Are you so bold to show to the best researchers in the field what you can do? Then send us an application (mail to claudio.castellini at dlr.de), consisting of a one-page description of the demo and possibly a short video (2’ max). We will review the applications – those with a video will be preferred! – and select up to 10 demos to be on sight during the whole workshop. Demo presenters will get a refund of up to EUR 500 on their travelling and accommodation expenses. Your deadline is Monday, August 20th, 2018. Accepted demos will be notified within September 3rd, 2018.

*********** Please spread this announcement to all potentially interested colleagues!

Best regards,
Tamim Asfour, Philipp Beckerle, Claudio Castellini
