Fulltime PhD student in industrial exoskeleton design for factories of the future.
A fully funded PhD position is available at the Brussels Human Robotics Research Center (BruBotics) to be part of an exciting new research, to be developed at the Robotics and Multibody Mechanics (R&MM) research group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

We're looking for strongly motivated applicants, to join us in our quest to deliver a radically new exoskeleton technology, to improve the quality of life of industrial workers. The PhD research will involve conceptual designing, building, controlling and testing assistive devices. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, be involved in state-of-the-art research and grow in close contact with a very diverse industrial users group that includes world leading companies.
Potential candidates must have:
- Mechanical, mechatronics or industrial engineering Msc or equivalent.
- Strong emphasis on mechanical design.
- Good communication and written skills in English (Dutch is a plus).
- Experience in previous projects involving mechatronic design, human-centered robotics or ergonomics is a plus.
The position is immediately available pending formal administrative approval and will require the enrolment in the university PhD program. After an evaluation period of 1 year, there is the possibility to extend the contract for a full 4 years PhD position, with a highly competitive salary as well as a personal laptop, healthcare insurance, and free public transportation.
