*DEADLINE EXTENSION* : March 25th, 2018

The 2018 IEEE International Workshop on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts (ARSO 2018)


September 27th - 29th, 2018 Genova, Italy.

ARSO is a single track workshop, aiming to provide world class researchers, engineers, investors, economists, and representatives of industry and government with a forum to discuss cutting-edge robotics technologies, business opportunities, and their impacts on human society. Topics are all cutting-edge robotics technologies. ARSO 2018 focuses in particular on AI and its impact on future robotic systems. We welcome contributions that fall in the following special sessions:

* Legal and ethical regulations for AI and robotic systems
* HRI and social robotics
* The role of AI in the implementation of cognitive robots
* Industrial robotics
* Intelligent robots for rehabilitation

or that describe applications of AI to robotics including, but not limited to:

* manufacturing
* service and assistance
* healthcare and medical applications
* transportation
* search and rescue
* entertainment
* education

# Technical tours

The following technical tours are planned:

* Visit to highly automated coffee producer (Cellini Group, EKAF SpA)
* APOTECA robotic system of the Loccioni Group, at the San Martino Hospital - National Institute for Research on Cancer (IST), Genova
* Industrial production site of power generators, Ansaldo Energia
* Robotics Laboratories at Italian Institute of Technology, Genova

# Keynote speakers

We are pleased to announce our keynote speakers:

* Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, University of California at Berkeley
* Sabine Hauert, University of Bristol and RoboHub

# Paper submission

We accept the following contributions:

* Full papers of six pages, with up to two extra pages at additional charge (eight)
* Abstract submissions (1-2 pages)

All papers must be written in English and submitted electronically in PDF format via PaperPlaza.  All submissions undergo a blind review process and receive at least two reviewers. Full papers may be accepted for oral or poster presentation, all accepted full papers will be published with DOI and ISBN in the conference proceedings, and included in IEEEXplore. Abstract submissions may be accepted for oral or poster presentation, but will not be included in the conference proceedings.

Accepted papers will be grouped or assigned to the special sessions depending on the topic selected at the time of the submission.
