The project focuses on building a new generation of mobile, autonomous agents that can navigate safely alongside humans in dynamic crowded environments such as terminals, malls, or campuses. We envision the work on the JackRabbot project enhancing a number applications, including last mile delivery of items, smart shopping carts, and behavior analytics.
SVL is looking to hire postdocs with experience in vision for robotics and/or human-robot interaction. Ideal candidates have a strong publication record, are familiar with the Robot Operating System (ROS), and have experience with machine learning for decision making.
Applicants who work in vision for robotics are expected to be familiar with deep learning, e.g., for object detection, tracking, motion prediction, etc. Having worked with lidars, stereo cameras, or RGB-D cameras is a plus.
Applicants working in human-robot interaction should be able to design and run user experiments, handle IRB protocols, and must be comfortable experimenting with a variety of sensing technologies to build autonomous, interactive systems. A background in social robot navigation and/or designing group interactions is desirable.
Interested candidates should email their CV (including a list of their publications) and 3 letters of recommendation to Marynel Vázquez (marynelv at stanford.edu<mailto:marynelv at stanford.edu>). The positions will start this Summer or in the Fall, though the exact date is negotiable. Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis.
