Dear colleagues,

Please consider contributing and/or forward to the appropriate groups the following opportunity to submit and publish original scientific results to the Special Session on “Robotics in Education and Education in Robotics”. The special session will be part of the CLAWAR 2018 – 21st International Conference on Climbing and Walking Robots and Support Technologies for Mobile Machines (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__clawar.org_clawar2018_&d=DwIF-g&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=i5m-3q12iWJ__Ct5yTJmNATbzHns1yZ7rTVSmpC9qU4&s=w4IVbGKZkUnl_QycUDfJHNG4MiW3OtMpFmrNKMopjK4&e=), to be held within the premises of the Technological University of Panama, Panama, during 10 – 12 September 2018.

-- Important Deadlines --
Submission of full draft Papers: 15 April 2018
Notification of Paper acceptance: 15 May 2018
Submission of Final (accepted) Papers: 15 June 2018
Conference: 10-12 September 2018

-- Scope --
We have been witnessing a growing interest in the design, construction and programming of robots for educational purposes. The introduction of the robot in the classroom, at different levels of education, and even as extracurricular activity (for instance through robotic competitions), promotes a set of outcomes such as technological fluency, creativity, participation, support, collaboration and cooperation and also improves the social skills. All these skills are considered relevant to various fields, such as in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Other aspect also deserving great importance in the last years is related to the education in the particular field of robotics. With the increasing use of robots in the industrial and services sectors, there is a need for courses on robotics. Different approaches have been followed for teaching robotics, from the most “traditional” (based in lectures and laboratory classes), to others based on the use of simulators and virtual laboratories.
The purpose of this special session is to bring together roboticists, researchers, teachers, and students, to showcase and discuss their most recent experiences, accomplishments, and current practices using Robotics in Education and to emphasize the exchange of experiences, methodologies and materials to motivate students about Education in Robotics.

-- Submission Information –
