Applications are invited for two fully funded Research Engineer positions at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, Portugal. The selected candidates will be part of the U. Seville/CATEC/ISR-IST team participating in the MBZIRC2020 robot competition (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.mbzirc.com_&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=R2Enh9la4bJ5-nQu_cv-UXSDPXKrF39Ol5AtnKWbJA0&s=vYVUIPaeCp04fZWXaB3iyoQn88BJIozA03IR7JEjx9Q&e=) to be held in Abu-Dhabi, UAE, 20-24 February 2020.

These Research Engineer positions target candidates holding a Master degree (or equivalent)^1. Each of the selected candidates is expected to work, according to his/her preference, on one of the following two topics:

A) Development and integration of outdoor navigation and manipulation skills into tasks carried out by an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), required to solve Challenges 2 and 3 of MBZIRC2020.

B) Development and management of the software architecture that will support the execution of tasks in A) by the UGV, as well as the development and implementation of the cooperation algorithms with the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that will cooperate with the UGV on Challenges 2 and 3 (responsible: U. Seville + CATEC).

These positions will be supervised by Prof. Pedro U. Lima, Prof. Rodrigo Ventura, Dr. Meysam Basiri, and Dr. Alberto Vale, faculty or research staff at IST and researchers at the Intelligent Robots and Systems group of ISR/IST (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__welcome.isr.tecnico.ulisboa.pt_projects-5Fcat_irsg_&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=R2Enh9la4bJ5-nQu_cv-UXSDPXKrF39Ol5AtnKWbJA0&s=bFqj6T19SG_dISkKCZXMON3Bmy5htHiTkuc93KU9tgE&e=).
