The Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and
Ergonomics (FKIE) is looking for a new member for the department
Cognitive Mobile Systems (CMS) at the earliest possible date.

Programmer / Software Developer (f/m/d)

In Fraunhofer FKIE, nearly 500 employees in Bonn and Wachtberg develop
technologies and processes with the aim of early detection, mitigation
and management of existential risks. The Fraunhofer FKIE offers
enthusiastic developers challenging and varied tasks in a creative
environment.

The department Cognitive Mobile Systems deals with innovative processes
for the efficient management of mobile single- and multi-robot systems.
The focus is on improving performance and simplifying the operation of
robot systems by increasing their degree of autonomy. The focus of the
work is on systems for reconnaissance, inspection and support tasks in
difficult terrain and in industrial plants. The knowledge gained and the
work carried out regularly leads to practical implementation of the
research results in experimental systems and pre-competitive prototypes.

What we expect:
You have completed training as an IT specialist or a comparable
education or qualification.

In addition, you have:
     - good knowledge of programming in C++ and/or Python
     - sound experience in software development under Linux
     - proven practical and theoretical knowledge in computer science

Ideally, you should supplement this with
     - the ability to work independently on challenging questions
     - practical experience with software development for Robot
Operating System (ROS), Android, JavaScript or Qt
     - good written and spoken knowledge of German and English

We expect employees who integrate harmoniously into an existing working
group and distinguish themselves through their independent, well-founded
way of working. Team-oriented work, communication skills and a confident
appearance towards customers and cooperation partners are required.

We offer you an exciting, innovative and creative working environment
with the following tasks:
     - Specification and implementation of efficient algorithms for
current research topics in outdoor robotics
     - Participation in a team creating complex experimental systems
     - Execution of experiments with single and multi-robot systems

The position is initially limited to 2 years.
The weekly working time is 39 hours.
In case of identical qualifications preference will be given to severely
