positions for PhD students interested in advancing Human-Robot Interaction
(HRI).

We are looking for students interested in working in one or more of the
following areas:
- design and evaluation of human-robot interactions from a human-centered
perspective;
- robotic systems for multi-party / group settings;
- understanding of human behavior with robots; and/or
- human-robot interaction in-the-wild.

Ideal candidates have:
- strong interest in designing, developing, and testing social robotic
 systems;
- prior research experience in HRI, robotics, or human-computer interaction
(e.g., embodied social agents);
- strong programming experience, analytical skills, and background in
mathematics; and
- proficiency in English.

HRI projects at Yale are interdisciplinary. They often result in a variety
of contributions to the field (e.g., design, technical & experimental).
Having prior experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning,
experimental psychology, design, computer graphics, 3D modeling, rapid
fabrication, and hardware prototyping are all a plus.

PhD students at Yale have flexibility in the direction of their thesis.
Depending on their interest, they might be advised by Dr. Vázquez or Prof.
Scassellati, or both. All Ph.D. students at Yale receive a fellowship that
covers the full cost of tuition, a 12-month stipend, free comprehensive
health insurance, a family support subsidy for graduate students with
children under the age of 18. *We encourage talented female students to
apply.*

The deadline to be considered for graduate admission is Jan. 2. More
