Post-doctoral Position at Vanderbilt University
A post-doctoral position is available on an exciting project focused on performing image-guided liver surgery for open, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive procedures. The ultimate goal is to use intraprocedural data to enhance the visualization of subsurface vasculature and cancerous lesions while compensating for nonrigid changes to organ shape for the purposes of surgical and locoregional ablative therapies. The opportunity to translate research from the work-bench to the clinic is a primary goal within this work and involves an extensive collaboration between Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and Vanderbilt.
The position is for a post-doctoral research associate who has received a doctoral degree in biomedical-related area with expertise in image-guided surgery systems engineering, visualization and display, 3D digitization, computer vision, registration and image processing, co-registered ultrasonography, computer modeling, numerical analysis, and/or three-dimensional digitization instrumentation. Candidates who have experience in working with image-guided surgery instrumentation and visualization of data are of particular interest. The associate will be expected to create software/hardware designs for the system and develop novel digitization devices and work within the operating room environment. Other opportunities in registration, modeling, and interventional/surgical data science are also possible. The skill sets for this project require experience with programming languages and programming environments: C++, and Visualization ToolKit are essential. Experience in LINUX/UNIX, Microsoft Windows, and scripting languages preferably Python are also essential. Good writing and communication skills are also required. Please send your CV and 3 references to the below email address.
