[robotics-worldwide] [jobs] Internship available at Inria (France) on machine learning & deep learning for human activity recognition
serena.ivaldi at inria.fr
Fri Dec 27 03:00:36 PST 2019
We are looking for highly motivated master students to join our team for an internship of up to 6 months.
The internship is about applying machine learning and deep learning methods for human activity recognition, prediction and ergonomics online estimation. This work will extend and improve our previous work where we used HMMs to recognize human activities from motion tracking data acquired from wearable devices (Malaisé et al, RA-L 2019) and VAEs to train a latent space from human motion tracking data to enable the fast prediction of future movements (Dermy et al., HUMANOIDS 2018).
The candidate will join the team LARSEN in Inria, located in Nancy (France).
The team LARSEN consists of more than 20 international researchers, phd, engineers and interns, working in robotics & machine learning. The team has access to several robots (humanoid Talos, iCub, mobile robot Tiago, Franka..), motion tracking equipment (Xsens MVN suit) and computing facilities (clusters, grid 5000, …).
Nancy is a student-friendly town, 1h30 by train from Paris, with lots of student activities.
The ideal candidate is a master student in computer science or applied mathematics, with good working knowledge of python, Tensorflow (or similar frameworks) and familiar with machine learning methods (HMM, auto-encoders, RNN, LSTM, Gaussian Processes, etc.).
Curiosity, motivation, and good communication skills are critical.
The intern will also have the possibility to showcase his/her demo at workshops and fairs in Europe.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master or University. French knowledge is not required. The internship is paid about 550 euro/month, with medical coverage included, and interns can benefit from state aids for lodging.
Interested candidates should send their application to serena.ivaldi at inria.fr with the object [AnDy internship]. The application files include:
- Letter of motivation
- Exams notes
- Two contacts for recommendation
- Link to GitHub profile (if available)
- Any report or article that may be relevant for this internship
The position will be filled ASAP.
