Dear Colleagues,
The University of Lincoln, UK, is urgently seeking to appoint a high
calibre candidate to fill a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position. The
Research Fellow will join the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS)
and will work on an Innovate UK-founded project which is called

Research Fellow in Active Manipulation at Lincoln Centre for Autonomous
SystemClosing Date: Thursday 14 February 2019Interview Date: Monday 04
March 2019 This project is led by the UK’s largest soft fruit industry
co-operative Berry Gardens and will combine advanced AI driven image
technology and active robotic manipulation with a high-speed industrial
delta manipulator developed by the global leader ABB to develop a
high-speed soft fruit picking robot. Moreover, the picking system will be
integrated into the existing agricultural mobile robot Thorvald which has
been developed by Saga Robotics and the University of Lincoln. The Research
Fellow will work on fast motion planning to be deployed on fast fruit
picking robots.
We are looking to recruit a high calibre postdoctoral Research Fellow with
relevant experience and/or a keen interest in a number of research areas,
including (not exclusively): (1) robotic manipulation, (2) motion planning,
(3) robot perception, (4) machine vision for agricultural applications, and/or
(5) learning for autonomous systems.

Applicants should have or expect to soon obtain, a PhD (or equivalent) in a
relevant area. You must have excellent mathematical and coding skills
(C++/Python, ROS, PCL, OpenCV).
The Research Fellowship offers the opportunity to work with
state-of-the-art robotic hardware and software; to work within a leading
robotic group and very closely with industrial partners of the projects; to
build on top of the ongoing works/research to produce and disseminate
original research contributions in the leading international conferences
and journals.

This post will be a fixed term for 24 months with excellent opportunities
for ongoing career development and progression. You can apply here
