The Whiting School of Engineering and the Laboratory for Computational
Sensing and Robotics (LCSR) at Johns Hopkins University are seeking
outstanding faculty candidates whose research will contribute to the
development and advancement of engineering methods in robotics. More

This search is open to all faculty ranks and to candidates in all
engineering disciplines including Computer Science, Mechanical
Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Biomedical
Engineering. Tenure-line appointments will be in an appropriate academic
department within the Whiting School of Engineering. Of particular
interest are established candidates with a focus on robotics in all
aspects of healthcare. Examples include interventional/surgical
systems, rehabilitation, assistive robotics for healthcare, medical
imaging, or neuroscience, nursing assistants, etc. Candidates with a
demonstrated ability to translate their work to healthcare-related
settings are especially sought.
LCSR is a large multi-disciplinary center within the Whiting School of
Engineering with over 200 people. LCSR’s research strategy emphasizes
both fundamental and translational research in many aspects of
robotics. The Center collaborates actively with the School of Medicine,
with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, with other divisions
within the University, and with leading Industry and academic research
institutions worldwide.
Opportunities exist for interactions across Johns Hopkins in
transdisciplinary Centers and Institutes including LCSR, the Malone
Center for Engineering in Healthcare, the Institute for Computational
Medicine, the Institute for NanoBio Technology, the Institute for Data
Intensive Engineering and Science, the Environment, Energy,
Sustainability, and Health Institute, and Divisions across Johns Hopkins
including the JHU Applied Physics Laboratory, the JHU School of
Medicine, the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and the Bloomberg
School of Public Health.
All applicants must hold a Ph.D. in an engineering or related field and
will be expected to establish a strong, independent, multidisciplinary,
and internationally recognized research program. Commitment to teaching
excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required.
