The Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield, UK, is
seeking to recruit three academic posts to our Visual Computing research
group, which will expand the remit of the group to include computer vision
research and its application in areas such as robotics, advanced
manufacturing, cybersecurity and health. Applicants active in robotics will
become members of Sheffield Robotics <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.sheffieldrobotics.ac.uk_&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=xHCUgNfqXlYEBcQfF3dvjbI14AXY5Fy6Qm-M02n2j9Y&s=yzfG6avLZcQBDKWPx9mB_laUTpJw2ldO43EdmoUA_wI&e=>,
one of the largest robotics research institutes in the UK, with access to
shared facilities and equipment.

***Chair in Computer Vision***

This is a significant new appointment to lead our Visual Computing research
group and establish a clear strategy for visual computing research in the
Department of Computer Science.

We are particularly keen to appoint a candidate with a strong track record
of developing novel computer vision methods, in areas including – but not
limited to – robotics (such as computer vision for manipulation and
autonomous locomotion), visual search at large scale, object modelling and
recognition, visual biometrics and advanced manufacturing (such as
automatic visual inspection).

In addition to leading the Visual Computing Research Group, you will make
broad contributions to the Department’s strategies for research, teaching
and knowledge exchange.

***Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Vision (two posts)***

You will have a strong track record in developing novel computer vision
methods, and expertise in an area of computer vision that complements our
existing research strengths.

A key requirement of the role is the ability to establish collaborations
with other research groups and engage in interdisciplinary projects. As a
Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, you will conduct research to the highest
standards and as a teacher, you will play a key role in maintaining our
reputation for high-quality teaching.
