We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Robotics Engineer to work on an
innovative collaboration between AB Precision (Poole) Limited and University
A unique opportunity for a recently qualified Robotics Engineer to work on a
joint project under Knowledge Transfer Partnership, between AB Precision
(Poole) Limited and the University of Plymouth. The key objective of this
role is to develop enhanced automation, mobile navigation and situational
awareness for remotely operated vehicles for the Defence, Security,
Emergency Services and Nuclear markets.
A Masters level qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
Computer Science, Robotics or related field is essential. A PhD that expands
knowledge in a discipline related to Mobile Robotics and Artificial
Intelligence or allied disciplines is highly desirable. You must be
eligible and willing to gain full security clearance to the level of SC for
You will be highly numerate with well-developed analytical skills, be
methodical and tenacious with a proven ability to lead a project from the
technical perspective. You will need to be thorough with good attention to
detail and have good communication skills to convey technical concepts to a
non-technical audience and talk to customers and share information. You
will have the ability to work within standards and regulatory systems and be
a team player and be good at collaborative working.
AB Precision (ABP) delivers innovative engineering solutions to meet the
needs of global specialist markets. Their highly specialised team provides a
wide range of quality products and services in the design, manufacture and
support of electro mechanical equipment. Their combined in-house expertise
in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Defence Equipment design and
support puts their technologies in continuous use around the world.
This position will be based on Poole, Dorset.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis
for *2 years* due to funding.
