The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics at German Aerospace Center (DLR) is looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher (or PhD candidate) in the field of robot learning. The expected research area includes cognitive robot motor skill learning, including structured task learning, symbolic task representation, and human robot collaboration.

Working environment:

The appointed researcher will be based at the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics at German Aerospace Center (DLR) under the supervision of Prof. Dongheui Lee. The new position offers the opportunity to engage in national and international collaboration, especially tight collaboration with the Human-Centered Assistive Robotics group at TUM.  The research group has access to a number of robotic platforms such as light weight robotic arms, humanoid robots, motion capturing systems, etc at DLR and TUM. Both DLR and TUM are worldwide leading institutes in robotics research and offer world top level research environment and a great pool of brilliant students.


*       PhD degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent (or Master degree for a PhD candidate).

*       Excellent skills and experience in machine learning, robotics, and control

*       Excellent mathematical and coding skills (C/C++, Matlab, ROS, Python).

*       Proficiency in writing and speaking English.

*       Publications in recognized conferences/journals

Position: The position is available immediately. The positions are for a 36 month contract. Payment will be according to the German TVL E-13 or E-14 payment scheme, depending on the candidates experience and qualifications.
