IMAV is a competition and conference event on Mini and Micro Aerial Vehicles (i.e. drones) that was born in Europe in 2009. After several consecutive years held in Europe, IMAV aimed to be spread worldwide starting in Beijing 2016. IMAV currently gather around 200 researcher all aver the world to demonstrate their capabilities for fulfilling new challenges in drone autonomous missions.

IMAV is held alternatively in and out Europe in consecutive years since then.
This year IMAV is organised at UPM by the Computer Vision and Aerial Robotics Group with the challenges focused in logistic and package delivery, with relevant Sponsors in the field. The IMAV highlights are:
Indoors competition in a realistic warehouse logistic environment in the ETSII-UPM
Outdoor competition in a realistic package delivery scenario in Drone Arena (Chinchón-Madrid-Madrid)
Technical papers conference: aeronautics design, platform, sensoring, pose estimation, sensor fusion, control, mapping, scene recognition and interpretation
Four outstanding Keynotes:
"Urban Air Mobility, a vision by Airbus" by Dr. Isabel Del Pozo de Poza, Head of UTM - Urban Air Mobility at AIRBUS
"Autonomous Drone Racing” by Prof. Davide Scaramuzza, Professor of Robotics and Perception at Dept of Informatics at University of Zurich and Dept. of Neuroinformatics at Univ. of Zurich and ETH Zurich
“R&T supporting UAS development. The role of Research Organizations in UAS/RPAS innovation chain” by Francisco Muñoz Sanz, Head of Department: Center of Aeronautical Innovation and Systems Engineering, Subdirectorate of Aeronautical Systems INTA, National Institute of Aerospace Technology
