The Robomechanics Lab at CMU has a position available starting immediately
or within the next six months for a postdoctoral researcher interested in
legged locomotion in challenging environments. In particular, we are
staring a new project focused on finding and detecting environmental
contamination in remote locations that will require improvements in
mobility, autonomy, sampling, and machine learning in the field.

The ideal candidate would have experience in field robotics, especially
legged robots, focused on controls or autonomy. Experience with
environmental monitoring or chemical sensing is a plus. They must show a
strong research track record, indicated by high impact results and
publications in top journals and conferences.

The postdoc will be expected to lead a team of graduate and undergraduate
students and work with the sponsor to manage the project in addition to
pushing forward a research agenda. The postdoc may also help mentor
students in the lab working on other projects in addition to the
environmental sampling project.
