The School of Mechanical Engineering at University of Leeds is offering a 3.5-year fully-funded PhD studentship to UK/EU applicants on legged robotics.

You will contribute to advance understanding in one or more of following research areas: Locomotion of legged mobile robots including research into walking robots, exoskeletons, and general fast multi-link robotic systems. In particular, you will perform research to embed autonomous motor skills in legged robot while it is dynamically interacting with realistic environments. Research effort will be spared to developments and integrations of conventional motion planning/control algorithms, as well as state-of-art machine learning techniques, to achieve creature comparable motion capabilities of legged robots.

The successful candidate is expected to hold a master degree in robotics, computer science, mechanical engineering or a relevant discipline. Previous experience and knowledge in robotics, machine learning or computer vision are highly desirable.
