We are delighted to announce the workshop on Topological Methods in Robot
Planning at the 2016 International Conference on Robotics and Automation
(ICRA). This workshop seeks to popularize the use of recent topological
techniques in robot planning problems and will encourage collaboration
between the algebraic topology, computational geometry and robotics
communities to promote and discuss the use of topological methods in
Robotics. The workshop will focus on four sub-themes: 1) topologically
aware motion planning, 2) topological classification of solutions/paths, 3)
topological abstractions and classifications of configuration spaces, and
4) simplicial representations and its application to sensor networks and
coverage problems. The workshop will feature expert talks by a diverse
group of people who are working at the frontier of application of
topological methods to solving problems related to motion planning,
perception and automation. The goal of the workshop is not only popularize
new ideas related to topological methods, but also to encourage
intellectual exchange through discussions and collaborations across the

We highly encourage submission of posters for the workshop. If you would
like to present recent and ongoing work related to topological approaches
for robotics, please submit a short abstract (1-2 pages) over email,
outlining your research by midnight 5th April 2019, Pacific Time. We are
planning to have a short poster spotlight session for selected submissions
as well as a dedicated poster session for all accepted submissions during
the workshop, providing a unique opportunity to discuss your work in this
area with colleagues.
