The project will be carried out on the R1 platform, a full-fledged humanoid specifically designed to operate in domestic and professional environments (e.g. hospitals).

Tasks will be:

* Improve R1 capabilities, exploiting RGBD cameras, LIDARs, IMUs and additional sensors to carry out 3D mapping and autonomous navigation tasks;
* Implement and/or integrate obstacle detection and obstacle avoidance algorithms in crowded and/or dynamically changing environments;
* Exploit web/cloud services to improve R1 cognitive skills.

The research project will be carried on in collaboration with an industrial partner actively working in the field of service robotics in Healthcare.
