****** Call for contributions to the 21st International Conference on Perception and Action (ICPA 2020) ********

Dear Colleagues,

We are currently accepting submissions for the 21st International Conference on Perception and Action (ICPA) (https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://centerforcap.com/694311/icpa-2020-home/__;!!LIr3w8kk_Xxm!_79nyWp0VeKkXLyM-QnR-4sCT4v9Tfu3vUneXJdlTcf-qmM2eSUJgu_NyZIXG6VCbulXaP6y$ ) which will take place in Cincinnati, OH (USA) from July 26-29, 2020.

ICPA, is the biannual, single-track conference of the International Society for Ecological Psychology (ISEP)<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://commons.trincoll.edu/isep/__;!!LIr3w8kk_Xxm!_79nyWp0VeKkXLyM-QnR-4sCT4v9Tfu3vUneXJdlTcf-qmM2eSUJgu_NyZIXG6VCbtiN2Qk9$ >. Since the first meeting at Storrs, Connecticut (USA) in 1981, ICPA has provided forums for scientists interested in perception-action with particular emphases on information and animal-environment systems. This issue was prominently examined by the psychologist James Gibson, whose ideas led the development of the ecological approach to perception and action. From the outset, ISEP has broadened its approach to psychology to include perception, the control and coordination of action, cognition, dynamical systems, developmental systems, social systems, human-centered design, and the arts. Underlying its continuing growth is James Gibson's admonition that ecological psychology's "terms and concepts are subject to revision as the ecological approach to perception becomes clear. May they never shackle thought as the old terms and concepts have!".

Therefore, the ICPA 2020 organizers particularly encourage submissions from researchers who are interested in ecological psychology but are new to the ISEP community!

ICPA XXI in Cincinnati will provide an opportunity for researchers from multidisciplinary backgrounds to present on topics related broadly to the conference's main theme. These topics include, but are not limited to:
* Perception (e.g., visual, auditory, haptic)
* Event perception
* Affordances
* Action and coordination
* Interpersonal/social coordination & joint action
* Dynamical systems modeling
* Perception-action throughout the lifespan
* Human and animal cognition
* Physical biology and psychology
* Intentionality and issues in philosophy of mind
* Speech/language perception and production
* Neurodynamics/neuromechanics
* Human factors and tool use
* Robotics & human-robot interaction
* Ecological physical therapy and occupational therapy

Call for Contributions:
ICPA accepts the following contributions and presentation formats
(please also see: https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://centerforcap.com/704705/call-for-papers-and-submissions/__;!!LIr3w8kk_Xxm!_79nyWp0VeKkXLyM-QnR-4sCT4v9Tfu3vUneXJdlTcf-qmM2eSUJgu_NyZIXG6VCbq0os9CA$ )

  * Symposia: Symposia are one-hour sessions focused around a specific topic and should include oral presentations from 3-4 different confirmed speakers.
  * Open Forum talks: Open forum talks are individual oral presentations independent from the symposia.
  * Poster Presentations: ICPA traditionally features different formats to contribute to the poster sessions - short and long abstracts. Short abstracts should be submitted if only conference presentation is intended. Alternatively, long abstracts can be submitted if a full publication is intended. Long abstracts will be peer reviewed and published in the Poster Book (Conference proceedings)

Important Dates:

March 22, 2020 ------------ Deadline for submissions of proposals for poster, open talks, and symposia. (no extensions!)

April 15, 2020 -------------- Acceptance/decline notices sent to authors

May 31, 2020 --------------- Final day for early registration

June 01, 2020 -------------- Late registration begins

July 26th, 2020 ------------ Opening Reception

July 27th - 29th, 2020 ---- Conference days

July 29th, 2020 ------------ Farewell banquet
