The University of West Florida (UWF), Pensacola, FL, USA in partnership
with the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) located
in downtown Pensacola, FL developed a new Ph.D. program in intelligent
systems and robotics (ISR). The program is the first of its kind in Florida
and one of only a few in the nation. The proliferation of robots and
artificial intelligence and their interactions with humans is gaining
prominence in everyday life and likely to be one of the key transformations
of the 21st century. The Ph.D. program centers on researching and
developing leading-edge intelligent systems and robotic software and
hardware technology that combines human and machine elements to exploit
their respective strengths and mitigate their respective weaknesses.
